How to install Undertale Yellow on Windows

  1. Open the official Game Jolt page and download the 1.3.1 package.
  2. Extract the zip into its own folder. It contains a folder named "Undertale Yellow v-1-3-1".
  3. Run Undertale Yellow.exe inside that folder.
  4. If Windows warns that the file is suspicious, the team's FAQ says that can happen with the official build — but only continue if the file came from Game Jolt or IndieDB.
  5. Updating from an older version? The team says new builds recognise existing saves; extract into a new folder or replace all the old files.

Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone

There is no official Mac version: the team's FAQ says porting plans fell through after they learned how expensive and tedious the process was, and that they are not working on one. There is no official Linux, Android or iOS release either. The easiest option on these devices is the Undertale Yellow browser version on this site, which runs the same 1.3.1 game files in a modern browser (we test in Chrome on desktop and phone).

Undertale Yellow patch notes

Version 1.3 (July 30, 2026) and hotfix 1.3.1

  • Sprites that included work by a former developer were remade: Martlet and Dalv overworld sprites, the Snowdin bridge monster, Rephil, Martlet's battle body, Mooch and Moray.
  • Improved Dalv battle sprites and portraits, large backgrounds and some sprites of the Neutral final boss's second phase.
  • Flee is guaranteed after 2 failed attempts; no new encounter right after sparing or fleeing.
  • Enemies give about 30% more G; the Delta Rune Patch drops from 100G to 80G.
  • Battle food shows how much HP it heals; the chemistry puzzle can be paused (C / Y) and slows down after 7 failures.
  • Difficulty select on New Game, plus a launch disclaimer that the game is fan-made.
  • 1.3.1: Mooch's sprites updated again, a softlock with Dalv's broom fixed, an out-of-bounds bug in the Ruins lever room fixed, credits updated and the Delta Rune Patch sell price corrected.

Version 1.2 (July 13, 2025), 1.2.1 and 1.2.2

  • Updated credits, typo fixes and an attempted fix for the final Pacifist cutscene slowdown.
  • Added a missing No Mercy check to the Steamworks; 1.2.1 fixed that checkpoint, 1.2.2 updated the credits (Nov 21, 2025).

Version 1.1 (December 14, 2023)

  • New accessibility options: Easy Mode (hats give DEF) and Auto-Rhythm for the rhythm fight.
  • Reworked the final Pacifist boss's attacks to be less chaotic; added an ACT heal to the final No Mercy boss.
  • Fixed more than a dozen crashes and softlocks, including the Dunebud duo "shoo" crash, the minecart puzzle, the second steam puzzle, Guardener's last line and Mo blocking your path.
  • Delta Rune Patch price lowered from 150G to 100G; more stock in the final No Mercy shop; Auto-Fire toggle on death screens.

Version 1.0 (December 9, 2023)

The full release, after a first demo on November 30, 2016 and nearly eight years of development.

Download FAQ

Where is the official Undertale Yellow download?

Team Undertale Yellow says it only uses Game Jolt and IndieDB to host the game, and that any other downloads are not official and could be dangerous.

Is Undertale Yellow a virus?

The official build is not. The team's FAQ jokes that Windows may warn you the game is suspicious, "but it is, in fact, quite spicious." Only download from Game Jolt or IndieDB.

Will my save work after updating?

The 1.1 notes say new builds recognise ongoing saves: make a new folder for the zip contents or replace all the old files.

Is Undertale Yellow on Steam, Android or Mac?

No official versions exist for Steam, Android, iOS or macOS. The team says its Mac port plans fell through. You can play the browser version on this site on a Mac, PC, tablet or phone.

Can I download the Undertale Yellow soundtrack?

Yes. The team says all 135 tracks are free to download on the Game Jolt page. A 35-track album was also put on streaming services; the rest was not uploaded because of legal issues.
